FRESNO STATE -- The Bulldog Newspaper
Foundation announced on Monday that its World Wide Web Site
page views for the Bulldog Newspaper were 1.172 million,
up 227,000 since last year at the same time.
This astounding popularity of the Bulldog
Newspaper traffic was also reported mirrored by other student
newspaper in academe.
For example, the College Publisher,
another leading provider of publishing technologies and marketing
services for student news, also published this week its 2001
College Newspaper Survey of more than 650 student newspapers.
Key findings from the survey include:
* 36% of respondents are selling online advertising
* 43% reported being able to publish online editions in
two hours or less, largely attributable to greater
efficiencies generated from web- based
publishing systems
* 81% of respondents believe that strengthening their online edition
is a key priority over the
next 12 months
* 69% of respondents indicated that sending content via email
is an essential feature in order to engage readers
and increase page views.
The 2001 College Newspaper Survey
is intended to be a comprehensive and useful resource for the Collegiate
Publishing Market.
