FRESNO STATE -- The Department of Mass Communications and Journalism  announced in Fall of 1998 that it would merge the popular online student run publications, Insight with the historic Collegian .
     But, it is now two years later, and as late as this week the Insight & Collegian  student newspaper is a no-show on the internet.
     Worse still, the department announced that both student online versions of the newspapers were to be discontinued.
     The Insight & Collegian News website is dark. The department's online student-run newspaper website carries the notice -- "The student-run newspaper is now published three times a week, and the online version is undergoing major revision."
However, what has appeared in place of the online student run newspapers is a fullscale commercial website. That is not a student run newspaper. It is the official news organ of the California State University Administration called the Fresno State News.
    Go figure!
